    Default Calendar App for Android

I don't get it... I've looked at about 15 or so different calendar apps for my Android-based tablet. Some are really good and some are not. I've actually installed about 5 to evaluate. But, not a single one of them has the one must-have feature for me: The ability to add different ringtones/sounds for specific kinds of events. To me, this seems like a big step backwards.

Funny how these things sometimes work... Just after posting this, I found Deja Office, which seems to do everything I want! And, since I don't need the PC sync capability, it's free!

Of what possible use would this be? Even a blind user could just use text to speech. But I think what I'm asking is when would you want this thing to play it's sounds? A tablet spends most of it's time sleeping, but assuming you have it powered up what are the odds an event would occur that you aren't anticipating already? Or, are you expecting two events to overlap and you don't think you would want to actually click on your calendar to see what they are?

It's my preference to have recurring events like birthdays, anniversaries, child pickup reminders, candle lighting times have unique tones that are different than the tones reminding me about doctor, business and other appointments.

True, but apps that run under Android aren't only running on tablets. They also run on smart phones which don't sleep.

Yes but you specifically said "tablet". But I still can't figure out why a brief tone would be important. So it's the wife's birthday next week - are you going to set and rely on some brief tone? No way. I would have an email reminder set. Ditto the dentist appointment tomorrow at 1:00. Absolutely useless to play a cute tone at 12:59, or even at 12:00 especially if I'm using using the phone and it doesn't play. Set an email reminder for that morning or the day before.

Dude, you do it your way and I'll do it mine. I've found an app that does what I want calendar-wise (and much more). I'm happy doing it with events that are tied to specific ring-tones and you're happy with emails. We both get what we want and life goes on.
