Maurice Sendak Dead: 'Where The Wild Things Are' Author Dies At 83

The Associated Press reported that Sendak died early Tuesday at a hospital in Danbury, Connecticut after having a stroke on Friday. His longtime caretaker and friend, Lynn Caponera, was with him.

The popular children's book author wrote "Where The Wild Things Are" in 1963. He won a Caldecott Medal for the book in 1964, and was adapted into a movie in 2009....

My kids, now older, absolutely loved this book & I think I read it cover to cover, about a million times! RIP Maurice

Loved his books and illustrations. "Really Rosie" was a fav video at our house for years.

I never read the books, but I really hated the recent movie adaptation which seemed to make little sense. I have no idea how much input he had on that.

I could not stand the movie and wanted to walk out of it.

I do remember liking the books though.
