Smithsonian Channel to Offer Aerial Glimpse of WV

The Smithsonian Channel original series "Aerial America" will be filming from the skies above West Virginia from May 16-20.

The series, which is shot from a helicopter equipped with an HD camera system, will be visiting West Virginia as part of one of the most expansive aerial television series ever produced.

Smithsonian Channel plans on filming each of the 50 states, providing rare glimpses of some of our nation's most treasured landmarks, all seen from above. From busy cityscapes to quiet landscapes, from historical and cultural landmarks to places far off the beaten path, producers say Aerial America offers a bird's eye view of the beauty and splendor that make up our country.

Residents of West Virginia can offer tips on where the Aerial America production team should be filming in the state by going to the Smithsonian Channel Facebook page or Twitter page.

So far, 26 states have been filmed. The West Virginia episode will premiere in late 2012.

Interesting in an abstract sort of way. Does anyone here know how we can get the Smithsonian Channel?

http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/si....do?series=701 Has episodes for purchase at $2.99. May be a good price, but why the heck do they expect you to register an itunes account to buy one???

Judging by the California teaser, I don't think the series is going to be real popular.

For the same reason you have to register with Google to have a Gmail account...

Hm. That one just went right over my head. Gmail is free, not purchased. I could be missing something, but I don't see any way to simply buy these videos. Everything seems to indicate I have to install special proprietary software to do it. Then only God knows how I'm supposed to watch it on my different devices - specifically my TV. Anyway, we should start a new topic I guess as this really has nothing to do with the show.
