The Jefferson County Commission is proposing to name persons to serve on several Authorities, Boards, Commissions or Committees on Thursday, June 21, 2012 or as soon thereafter as the Commission may decide. Several of those that may have a direct effect on residents of our mountain include:


A) Jefferson County Board of Health - 1 vacancy
B) Jefferson county Parks and Recreation - 4 vacancies
C) Solid Waste Authority - 1 vacancy
D) Water Advisory Committee - 2 vacancies


If you feel as tho you'd like to contributetime to becoming involved in YOUR government, send a letter of interest or a resume to:

Here's a chance to have a say in County Government. All the positions I've listed are on boards and committees that have a direct impact on your quality of life. You do not have to have, for example, a degree in Parks and Recreation Management to serve on the P&R Board. All you've got to have is a willingness to serve. Gosh knows we need more attention here on this side of the river from County Government

Willis, where did you find this info? I cannot find anything about it on twebsiteission's website. It lists today as the date for this so I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing at this point.

I received an email from the County. I ASS-U-MEed that they would have been on the county's public notice webpage: http://www.jeffersoncountywv.org/pub...c-notices.html
Note that here is a link on that page that allows for a subscription to receive email alerts of similar public notices. I'd consider opting for those notifications if you want to have an idea of County Gov't doin's.

There is a statement in the notice below:

Thursday, June 21, 2012 or as soon thereafter as the Commission may decide.

I did not see any mention of a decision to be made listed on this Thursday's agenda SO there may be more time.

Sadly, many of our commissions & boards find it difficult to recruit plain ole ordinary, but concerned citizens. These are precisely the caliber of perons I think will serve the county best. As I've said, you don't have to be a physician to serve on the Board of Eealth and you don't have to have a degree in Chemistry or Engineering to be a Water Advisor.

Call the county offices Friday and find out if appointments have been made. If not, let us know that thee may be more time
