9 Wants To Know But Pepco Won't Answer Whether It Cut Staff Of Linemen In Half
    Written by Russ Ptacek
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) - Since Tuesday, 9 Wants to Know has been asking Pepco whether it has decreased the number of linemen on staff, but the electric utility cannot or will not answer.

Watch the video attached to this story to see Pepco President Graham abruptly end the interview and walk off after saying repeatedly that he doesn't know and that he cannot approximate.

"I don't remember the exact number," Graham said as he failed to answer 9News Now Reporter Gary Nurenberg's repeated questions Tuesday about linemen staffing. "Approximately, I cannot because the work force consisting of union employees and contract work force. I don't know. "....

I know PPL in PA has cut staff and I am almost positive Dominion has cut some staff. It would not surprise me if they cut people too.

I don't know as much as you know; but what I do know in my soul is that we will never get a straight answer from any of the utility companies--not about how much equipment they have, it's condition, and/or the number of linemen or any other workers. Nothing any company does anymore surprises me. Nothing!
The only thing that would surprise me is if they have to pay for any proven negligence related to public safety.

Well has anyone noticed that they haven't sent out the Potomac Edison Bills yet. I went to pay mine and realized I didn't get it. So I called them and they said they put all billing on hold and she didn't know if she would be able to give me my correct amount, but she put me on hold to find out. When she came back on the line she gave me an amount that is more than my normal payment on an estimated reading. Then proceeded to tell me I will get another bill within 2 weeks at the end of July and another in August. I'm still confused!! Seems I'll be paying double for a month. She tried to explain it but none of it made any sense. Has anyone had this happen?

We just got our bill, and it was from a real reading.
    - Seems they over estimated a bit over the past few months.... so our bill this month was less then $40.
    - Hopefully our next real reading will be low too noting the lack of power we had for a few days.

I agree 110% with this. The only reason I know about PPL and Dominion is because I know people that work for both companies. I have a feeling a lot was cut when this company took over. Very evident by the last outage. While widespread, their supervisors and management seemed very unorganized. Most companies have a game plan for these issues, not sure if they forgot to read it or not.

There is absolutely no way I would notice a missing utility bill. Which may be why I sometimes find myself paying two months at once. Though I can't find it now, I swear I remember seeing an email or tweet from Potomac Edison explaining how they were short staffed and would have to estimate another month than they would have liked.

Personally, I would like a meter that is constantly in touch with them. Not reporting my minute by minute usage, but just telling them I'm live (or not).
