Default Black dog found on Wren Ln.

I hate to bring bad news to someone out there but while walking our dogs this evening on Wren Ln., we noticed a vulture down the embankment so we looked down expecting to find a deer carcass. Unfortunately it was that of a med.-sized black dog, possibly a lab mix with med. to longer hair near the belly area. It appeared to be a female and we could not see a collar. It also appeared to have rolled down the bank and was resting against a tree - maybe hit by a car? As you come up Skyline and turn right to go up Wren, it is on the left-hand (the low side) side, about 100 - 150 feet passed the second driveway on the right. Not to be gross, but follow the odor.
I am almost positive it was not there yesterday and it looked recent. If someone is looking for this dog, my heart goes out to them.
BTW, it is definitely not a Pekingese.

Terrible news. Our gal was recovered, but my heart breaks for the owners.

Is there a possibility that one of us could give him a burial?

Unfortunately, I think it is too late. I think the vultures have done their job because the smell has lessened. I couldn't bear to look down there today. I said earlier that my heart went out to the owners but now I am wondering if no one was looking for this dog. If that is the case, my heart goes out to the dog even more.
