      Default We LOVE Parades!

For Those Who Want To March In A Parade
(It's recommended that spectators park at the Nat'l Park's Visitors' Center)

      Parking Time & Location

Arrive between 11:30 am and 11:45 amSaturday, August 11th. The parking area is 1/4 mile from the staging area, but the driver can drop off participants on the way. Directions are at the end of this message and a map is attached. Your arrival time will depend on how big your group is and how much time you need to line up and stage before the parade start (12:30 pm). For example, if you are just a group of three or fewer it may be fine for you to get there at 11:45, but if you are a sizable band you would want to get there at 11:30 am or earlier.

Parade participants will park their vehicles at:

Harpers Ferry Family Medicine/Bolivar Medical Center
      171 Taylor Street
      Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
(3 blocks off Washington Street, 1 block west of Bank of Charles Town)

      Parade Start time
      12:30 pm

      Parade description

Length is 0.6 mile, from Bank of Charles Town east to Appalachian Trail Conservancy Headquarters (see attached map). Terrain is very hilly. Weather is typically hot and humid.

      Bring

Hats, sunscreen, and water. Also, please feel free to represent your group with homemade or printed banners, signs, noisemakers, t-shirts, etc. Bandanas tied to hiking poles are a low-tech way to add flair to your group. Friendly use of water guns is encouraged if the temperatures are typical for Harpers Ferry in August, just don't target band members with instruments.

      Amenities
The Bolivar Community Center, a block away from the staging area, will have bathrooms, air conditioning, and cold drinks will be available.

There's still time to plan on joining the BRWC in the parade. The parade route is nearly all downhill and the events planned at the Mather Center spell fun, fun, fun
