I'm saddened to relate the death of Jack Jackson's wife, Ellen, less than two months after Jack passed. I have fond memories of Jack and Ellen tripping the light fantastic in the Shannondale Ballroom. I'm sure I speak for all Shannondale Club Alumni when I say that our hearts go out to their family.

Ellen Rossberg Jackson, 60, of Charles Town, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at her residence.


Born March 19, 1952, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Burkhart Rossberg and Dorothy Cole Rossberg.


She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ranson.


Ellen was a 1970 graduate of Catonsville High School. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers.


She is survived by her daughter, Linnea Nicole Jackson, at home; and many close friends who will miss her.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leroy Jackson.


Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Ranson, with Pastor Mike Withem officiating.


The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
