    Fyi Leaning Trees Over Roadways III - VDOT Followup

    We talked about the danger of leaning trees, the hazards they pose motorists and pedestrians, and the tragedy that can result in previous threads, most recently:

    VA seems to be taking some action. However, I wonder how much effort will be directed toward their "Dangerous Tree Reporting" program mentioned in the news segment below. And I wonder what would prompt WV to implement a similar effort (as if I didn't know )

    VDOT to start removing dangerous trees in Great Falls

    After a tree fell and killed a driver in on Georgetown Pike in Great Falls last month, the Virginia Department of Transportation says VDOT contractors will remove about 60 trees officials say are dead or in decline.


    The majority are located on River Bend Road and Browns Mill Road. The work will cost about $60,000...


    ...VDOT says they rely heavily on residents to speak up when they see a rotting tree that could pose a danger. Splits in the bark, branches with no leaves, even ants can be warning signs....

    - The dead ones are a real problem!!!!
