Since you asked: My first suggestion would be to either stop using soft keyboards or take the extra effort to correct everything. Abbreviating something like "County Commission" when that's your entire subject line just makes you look lazy.

I mean, nobody minds the occasional typo, but this is your whole spiel. Do you really plan to enumerate your positions on the various issues from your smartphone?

I'm all for persons interested in offering public service, especially those from the mountain; but does anyone else think this posting belongs in "Announcements"? Just a thought.

Medic5 - Yes, follow the mentioned suggestions. My thoughts: If you're going to run for public office be prepared. Get to know not just the people you'll represent but find out what are their needs. What ideas can you bring to the table?? Are they feasible?? If there is a budget involved learn its history. Get to know those people you'll be working with--they could be your supporters in an election. You really have to build a relationship with people currently serving and those who have served. Again, if they feel you can work with them and not against them they could be your best supporters.

What's your past history?? As you can see from elections going on now is anything in your past going to be an impediment? Can you truthfully explain any skeleton in your closet??

Find out what it will cost you to do this. Can you afford it?

One other thought/suggestion: Talk to those who have gone through this (winner/loser) and talk about their experiences---good, bad, indifferent. You may not want to repeat their mistakes. Talk to the voters--what made them vote for the current incumbents.

Something else: who is your competition? What ideas do they have?

    Amusing

    .... input ...

    1. Get organized.
    2. Define your platform.
    3. Raise some funds.
    4. Create a website perhaps.
    5. Build your visibility as a viable candidate.
    6. Do your homework on past politics.
    7. Connect with the voters/know the issues!

You can't just wake up one day and decide to BE a politician, ... you need to BECOME a politician. It's a process.
