Remembering the Republican's Stimulus
To hear the GOP talk about Obama these days one might conclude it was he that came up with the whole stimulus idea. But in fact the Republicans have been at it in modern times since Reagan. It was only when Obama was elected that they did an about-face and suddenly decided it was a bad idea. One has to conclude that if Romney is elected they will all flop again and decide it's a good idea.
[The Republican] proposal would have cost about $3 trillion over the next decade — so a bit less than 400 percent what the stimulus cost — and not a dollar of it would’ve been paid for. There was no expiration date, and the tax cuts were largest for the richest Americans, making it neither temporary nor targeted. Yet most every Senate Republican voted for it. And now they’re standing on the stage underneath a debt clock arguing that the Obama administration spent too much.

I don't pretend to understand it all, but my thinking is that of course Republicans would support a stimulus program. Who in their right mind wouldn't if it were one that could work. They just didn't support Obama's plan. The one that didn't work. It gave money to banks and big businesses and didn't do squat for individuals or small businesses.
The article implies that the Republican plan(s) is nothing more than tax breaks and addresses nothing else. However, I believe that most Republicans favor cutting government size, waste and entitlements thereby slowing or stopping debt increase.

I believe the GOP had several plans. For me, it’s not really about the amount, it’s about how it was spent. BTW; the author of this article (Ezra Klein) is known for liberal pro-Obama views. He’s a good writer, but very biased. In general he writes many articles that take shots at the GOP or those that make many excuses for why Obama’s not at fault.
Klein's article may have been a response to something Jim DeMint wrote. Or just a coincidence?

Here's a video clip sums up why the Democrat Stimulus package did little to stimulate much of anything. Obama seemed to believe stimulus was simply “spending”. So, it’s really no wonder it failed.

Obama back-tracked on his own statement that he would be accountable. Seems much of what he says are meaningless. How can he pass the blame when he can't even work with others with opposing views?
