Default Michelle Obama DNC Speech 2012

The speech focused on military families, women, and values of hard work and sacrifice. A great speech on the character of her husband spoken from expert personal experience and an educated mind. Michelle Obama DNC Speech 2012 She speaks of a United States of American I am proud.

So far I've missed all the speech-making at both conventions. Did she actually write this one herself? Or like virtually all the others was it ghost written? I don't think they actually release that information.

Anyway, in general I know no actual news comes from conventions these days. The most newsworthy thing they can hope for is a gaffe.

But you know, now that I think about it, I did try to tune in to Michelle's speech, and a few others, on the internet. So far I have been stymied in this attempt. Sites that claim to be carrying it either hang or don't list it at all.

Does it really matter? Last time I checked I didn't have a vote on who was going to be the first lady. Again lets talk about the presidents record.

Don't you and your family deserve the same WORLD class health care???? Won't we all be better off with preventive dental cleanings and cancer screenings, and of course most important to address the metabolic syndrome crisis we are facing. Personal I believe the focus needs to be in wellness not illness, but that is an entire paradigm shift.

Don't Ask Do't Tell - doesn't needs defending, anyone can love anyone they want.

GI Bill - an education is better then wasting the enormous investment and experience in military vets. I went to college on grants and loans (ZERO family money) and it allowed me with the help of others to be a better person and serve my community with more effectiveness.

As far as Economics goes - It started with the repeal of Glass Stegall Act in the early 1980s and the bail out of Continental Bank, at the time the twelfth largest, and declared to be too big to fail, so the strategy for banks - now investment houses - was to get as big as you can so the government will bail you out, why should the policy be different for one of the three largest auto manufacturers in the United States? The policy is wrong, but it is worse when selectively applied.

Seriously Dhyana??? Nice talking points, but those are all failed policies.

Healthcare- Everyone in this country has access to healthcare. What Obamacare does is force individuals to pay for health insurance. Don't fool yourself into thinking that this is a good thing. How could it be when the President himself stated that his plan would charge taxpayers 10 years worth of taxes in order to get 6 years worth of services and the price tag now sits at well over $2 TRILLION Dollars. Asking is all citizens deserve the same access and quality to health care that every congressman receives is another stab at class warfare. If Larry the Laborer wants equal healthcare to that which a Senator, Congressman or other successful people receive then maybe Larry the Laborer should have studied harder in school and worked towards a career that would have provided his family with quality health insurance.

Don't Ask Don't Tell- I believe that was repealed and now we have openly gay members of the military participating in gay pride parades in their uniforms. DISGRACEFUL!! As far as the issue of gay marriage it's a non-issue. Fix the economy and put Americans back to work and then we can talk about issues that affect a very small percentage of the population.

GI Bill- Wasn't aware that this was an issue in this election.

Economics- Obama's FAILED Stimulus Plans- In his first year Obama spent $2.1 TRILLION Dollars in Stimulus spending to bail out the banking, mortgage and auto industries. Were these companies really "too big to fail" or was this a payback to those who backed his campaign? Why did we need to bailout the auto industry? GM and Chrysler took the bailout money closed several plants, thousands of dealerships and laid off tens of thousands of US workers. Wasn't the point of the stimulus to save or create jobs? Chrysler sold it's asset to Italian automaker FIAT and GM restructured their brands by eliminating Pontiac, Saturn and Saab, but they failed to restructure their agreements with labor unions and are once again knocking on the door of bankruptcy. On the other hand FORD refused the handout, restructured on it's own and remains profitable.

Obama has added nearly $6 TRILLION to the national debt in just 43 months in office. According to the 2009 census there were approximately 81,890,189 federal taxpayers and as of July 12, 2012 the National debt was $15,885,854,755,351.47. If it were the responsibility of every federal taxpayer to pay his or her equal share of this debt then each would have to contribute about $193,989.72. Can you write that check? Do you think that the 22% of the population who are unemployed or under employed can write that check? This country CANNOT afford another four years of President Barack Hussein Obama's wild spending.

Oh and just keep this discussion on track- Michelle's speech was a horrific train wreck that tried to paint Barack and herself as growing up poor, driving a rusted out car, wearing shoes that didn't fit and despite all of that they made it to the top. Heartwarming, really. It's just too bad that in reality they both went to private schools, received ivy league educations and are the very definition of elitists. Remember during his first year in office when Barack Hussein Obama too his wife out on a date in NYC, used Air Force One, had secret service details and cost the taxpayers over 13 Million dollars? Way to relate to the average American.

Michelle's and Bill Cllinton's speeches were absolutely awesome and demonstrated (to those with ears that actually listen) the progress that this administration has made over the past 4 years.

Disgraceful? Why is being able to serve your country disgraceful?

My hatred for politics is at an all time high. Some much spin, misrepresentation of facts/data, and out right lies. How anyone could be a party line toting member of either of these parties is absolutely beyond me. Also replying to "talking points" with more "talking points" is really silly.

Boy oh boy, "derricksonb." You get too many of your facts from Republican super-PAC commercials. I'd argue with you on your statements and figures (as I am an independent and look for the truth, not the rhetoric), but I gather you won't acknowledge a logical argument no matter how it is spelled out. You want to be a "hater," just say that!

I echo "saltman241" that my disdain for politics is at an all time high, especially when you see so many completely uninformed political arguments. It makes it really hard to have educated conversations.

Actually DB is Independent as well, unfortunately reading the text only often does not reflect the whole context of what the individual intends to convey, That said both DB and myself have often discussed a night out at a "neutral drinking locale" for forum members who so desire to actually meet face to face and shoot the bull so-to-speak. Might be surprised at what might happen, then again a huge bar fight might occur over "taste great" "less filling" or the whole Cowboys vs the Redskins thing.

What thing? There's no real "vs." there -- the Redskins suck and always have.

True, but this act won’t do it. Premiums are projected to rise along with an increased financial burden on taxpayers.

The biggest obstacle to healthcare is cost and this Act did little to focus on that. It seems to have focused more on finding a way to have taxpayers pay for a bloated system.

Many areas where costs can be reduced, but actions this act took to reduce any is still a mystery.

I agree, but again I don’t see this Act doing that.

In most cases I think health insurance premiums should be based on an individual’s health. This act seems to want to place the burden of cost on the young and healthy. I.E., those who are able to live healthy life styles (but chose not to) should pay more in insurance premiums, just as drunk and accident prone drivers pay more for Auto Insurance.

Michelle's speech did very little to change any minds. Those who love Obama, loved her speech, while others who think Obama is unable to lead and bring opposing opinions together didn't hear much to acknowledge mistakes of the past or how Obama would make more of an effort to find common ground for opposing views in the future.

All the DNC rhetoric about looking out for the "average joe" rang a bit empty to me in knowing millions in taxpayer dollars were funnelled to Solyndra only to benefit Democrat political contributors. If Dem's were really looking out for me and other 9-5'rs, they'd do more to acknowledge this money sucking mistake and take action against those knowledgeable of the pending failure.

To top it off, bringing an official tied to the Solyndra mess to the convention? Am I supposed to pretend it never happened because Dem's don't talk admit it was a mistake? Sure, hold on, sit back and wait for the magic to happen.

The most consistent tactic used in this campaign has been vilification of the wealthy and successful.

I don't misrepresent data. I present my argument based on my recollection of the events and use historical data which anyone can verify by looking it up on the internet. Are they talking points? Yes, but without talking points wouldn't this forum be nothing more than a blank page?

I would encourage you to get to know me better before making such rash assumptions. As STP indicated I am an Independent with very conservative fiscal views and very liberal social views. Although I understand your rationale for assuming my allegiance to the GOP when in reality my statements are based on my observations of the events that transpired after Obama signed the stimulus packages. If you can prove me wrong then please do so, but the fact is that Obama paid off the auto and banking communities for their support and in turn they closed down branches, factories and laid off thousands of Americans.

Serving your country is not disgraceful. However wearing your uniform while participating in such an event is a disgrace to the entire military and I believe there is a section in the rules which prohibit that type of behavior.
