Default Shannondale and Beyond Feral Cat Coalition - Meeting planning

I am back from Canada and ready to start planning a meeting for anyone interested in helping the feral cat population on the Mountain.

I am thinking Tuesday, September 25 at 7:30pm, either my house or I will see if we can use the MCC. How does that date sound? Time ok too?

Yay! Glad to see this back! I can tell you, though, the MCC is in use that evening for Karate class, 'til 8:30.

    Petsani I'll Echo kkrapf's Sentiments

S&B endorses efforts to control our feral cat population and will gladly offer our support, Spat. The MCC's calendar can be seen HERE.

Could the basement of the MCC (where AA meets on some evenings) be used as an alternate meeting place, kk?

That date would be good for me - either location.

Willis: I don't see why not. For that matter the front library rooms can be used, as well. I suppose it depends on how optimistic we are about attendance. I say let's hope for standing room only.

How big is the basement Willis? How many people could fit in there? I am swamped with 3/4 kids in activities so this is the best night for this month.

The basement would easily accommodate 20-25 people, Spat. And there are plenty of chairs. A recent meeting of the DOH and our watershed coalition is pasted below. It shows about half the space available to sit.

Looks like that would work just fine. Who do I contact to ask if we can use the space?

Spat, the SAMCCP's website give the info for facility rental HERE with an email and telephone contact. If the rental fee issue hasn't already been raised, I'm certain that any such fees would be waived for the meeting you're proposing.

I'm in! We definitely shouldn't charge a rental fee. You are welcome to meet in the library rooms also. Can we get a speaker from Spay Today or Animal Welfare to come join us?

I may not make the meeting, but if you guys need to go begging for traps to borrow I have a raccoon Havahart that mostly sits unused. I hear it was used to good purpose during our last campaign.

Thank you for putting this together! The downstairs meeting room at the MCC should work well. I'll try to get there early to have everything opened up and ready.

    Paranormal

The average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year is 3.

The average number of kittens in a feline litter is 4–6.

In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.
That's a few more cats than I could tolerate.

Can't attend, but am interested in the cause. Please let us know how the first meeting goes and what future plans may be.

I was just thinking of another fundraiser we might consider - a mini holiday bazaar. I crochet hats, scarves, etc., and would be willing to donate them to raise money for the spay/neuter fund. If there's anyone else who does crafty things or has flea market type things they would like to donate, we could hold it at the Center before the holidays and advertise it well.

Also, if it's not too much to ask, we could have the BRILLO people save us the cans from the next clean-up campaign.

    Thoughts??
