Again, a HUGE thank you to those who contributed and assisted in other ways to make this year's gypsy moth treatment possible. The trees greatly appreciate your help!!!

Some questions have come up recently that make me feel I need to re-explain how things work with the spraying. We have a 3000 acre block that is surveyed every year. WVDA maps out the areas that qualify for spraying based on the egg mass surveys. We ask for contributions everyyear from every one in this 3000 acre block. Not every area is sprayed every year because not every area has qualifying egg mass counts, but by spraying the areas that need it, encroachment into the areas that are not sprayed is minimized. Typically (not always) land that was sprayed last year, will not be sprayed this year because there are no egg masses because that area was sprayed.

No spraying tomorrow (5/6) but will likely be within the next few days. I may be told as late as 8PM the night before the spraying so check the forums before you go to bed.

Just found out today that because WVDA is conducting so many spraying programs this year, they may not be able to notify me the night before like they have always done. If they do, of course I will post. As of today, they are estimating that the spraying will take place in two to three days. They are up here checking out conditions daily. Sorry I can't be more specific this year.

No spraying5/8 or 5/9 due to rain in the forecast. Possibility for 5/10 but not likely if rain remains in the forecast for Sunday and Monday. It turns out that I will be notified the night before so again "stay tuned."

Still no spraying date announcement - the rain continues to postpone the event.

Bummer... just found one of the fuzzy critters in the house. Yuck. He's now crawling on the inside of the vacuum with a spider friend...

FINALLY HAVE WORD!! Gypsy Moth spraying to happen on Wednesday, 5/14, possibly as early as 6 AM. That is if mother nature cooperates and doesn't send us more rain, wind or fog. That is the word for now though and if it changes I will post.
