We're always sad to report another death in our group of alumni. Betty, who was the widow of Henry(Hank) Aaron and later reconnected with and married her now late high school sweethheart, Vincent. I personally apologize to the Family and to you viewers for my slothfulness.

Betty “Betsy” J. Macmorran

Betty “’Betsy” Jane Macmorran, age 86, of Westminster, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, Md.

Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Garnet and Sara Effie (Hughes) Walker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Clay Aaron in 1996, and by second husband, Vincent Arnold Macmorran in 2005.

She worked for the U.S. Treasury Department during World War II in Washington, D.C., and was a librarian with Vitro Laboratories in Silver Spring, Md., for the remainder of her career. She was a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, Md., and was a regular attendee of the chapel services. Betsy enjoyed life and loved to travel.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick H. and Marion “Candy” Aaron of Westminster; granddaughter and husband, Emily A. and Jason Craig of Lancaster, Pa.; and great-granddaughters, Lauren E., Anna C. and Sarah A. Craig.

She was preceded in death by a son, A. Lynn Aaron, in 2002.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec.26, 2007, from the Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Associate Chaplain, C. Dahl Drenning officiating, assisted by Jason Craig. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. The family will receive friends on from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the chapel.
