Great News, We've heard from Alan(1/26/2009)
Here's a short note from him and two great pics-so much better than that goofy one above
In 1972 I bought land in Shannondale (2 lots). I can't remember on what road(ed. note:Likely near Bunny Lane). In 1975 I gave both lots to my parents so they could build their homand they moved from Baltimore to Shannondale in 1975. In Sept of 1982 my father, Willard, died of cancer of the lungs. Three months later mom, Kathleen, had a heart attack followed by a stroke in Dec. 1982. I had to put her in the Reston nursing home in Feb. 1983 where she had a relapse (stroke). Mom passed away Dec. 1985. In the summer of 1985 I had to sell the home in Shannondale to help with the bills.
As for myself, I graduated from high school in 1965. Enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 became an Air Force Ranger (attended US Army Ranger School). Was in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. Discharged in 1970 went from job to job and enlisted in the Army in 1975. Became a senior NCO did Black Ops missions in Central America and USSR while stationed in the Canal Zone Panama. Was discharged in '81 to be with dad.
Was married in 1968 to Nancy and have been married for 41 yrs. in Apr. 2009. Nancy retires as a Asst. Principal of Balto. Co. MD. in 2010. I retired as a Real Estate Broker in 2006. We have 2 married sons, 6 grandchildren (5 girls, one boy). I'll be 63 in 2009 and Nancy will be 62.
After Mom and Dad passed away I lost heart for Shannondale and only visited (drove past) the old house while playing golf in Charles Town 2 yrs. ago with my golf club.
I have no pictures from our time at Shannondale because the house was broken into when Mom was in the Nursing Home in Arp. of '83. The boyswho broke into the house also arsoned the home. All of my Mom's painting (300) where destroyed along with all pictures etc. The house was saved and repaired.
