I don't relish being the bearer of sad tidings, but I was informed by Frank Mazurowski, John's Grandson, that John had taken the journey from this life. John Albert Routhier 1927-2008
John Albert Routhier, 81, of Harpers Ferry, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the VA Medical Center.
Born 1927 in Washington, D. C., he was the son of the late Albert Joseph Routhier and Grace Katherine (Florine) Routhier.
He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army-Air Force, and Merchant Marines, and was later employed as a machinist for Watkins-Johnson.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town.
He was a member of the V. F. W. and the D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Pelarski) Routhier; two sons, John D. Routhier of Jefferson, MD and Mark A. Routhier of Frederick, MD; three daughters, Glenna M. Routhier of Boyds, MD, Grace A. Routhier of Poolesville, MD and Joan E. Mazurowski of Dunnellon, FL; two grandchildren, Frank A. and Amy M. Mazurowski; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, James E. Routhier.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Brian Owens, Celebrant.. Military graveside services will be held at St. Peter Cemetery in Harpers Ferry.
Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DAV Memorial Program,
