Fred Tepper(Linda Zwobota's Husband)

Fred, Linda Zwobot(a)'s husband was operated on 4/5/2006, a double transplant of kidney and pancreas. I'll let her tell the story:

The scary part is over, as his health deteriorated to an alarming place before the transplant. I was even vigilant in my sleep. The process is frustrating. Fred has been very high on the list for these transplants since July of last year (and that was after months of testing to qualify.) This was the ninth or tenth time that we had been called for a pending transplant. They call more than one candidate, to ensure that no organ is wasted should contingencies develop. This was the second time that we were called in to the hospital and Fred was prepped for surgery. The first time we were sent home. We arrived at the hospital at about 9am on Wednesday. We didn't know that the surgery was a go until twenty minutes before they wheeled him away. That was at 4pm.

He already looks completely different. His bloodwork proves that the new organs are working, and these measurements are great for a healthy person of any age. Of course he has to deal with the immune suppression drugs, but he has been taking them for almost 10 years already. We are blessed.
