Ed Strikes a Familiar Pose

Ed and Doris were among the first settlers of the 'dale, buying property in 1956. Following the modus operandi of many Shannondalians, they started out camping and built a small "vacation" cabin. Additions and renovations to the cabin invariably ensued and upon retirement, they moved full time to our beloved mountain.

Ed was trained in the fine arts but he also excelled in painting exquisite pictures with his words. Shannondale was fortunate to have had him chronicle events and happenings in the community. Ed passed on in 1992. We've included his death notice and a lovely tribute authored by his daughter Crystal.

Doris still resides at the home on Johnnycake Lane between frequent visits to her offspring, Crystal and Randy. We met with her recently(2004) and had a grand time reminiscing about our memories of the 'dale. The family has been gracious to provide photos and some articles written by Ed. We'll be adding them to our slide show very soon.

On Easter Day 2006, we were saddened to learn of Doris' passing. As we mentioned above, we had spent time with her going over old photos and news articles and she offered them for use on our site. We also talked with her on occasion at the mailboxes and traded information about the family. Our hearts go out to Crystal and Randy. Doris was one of a kind-THE GOOD KIND!!!
