Long before the lake was constructed, there was a "trout pond" about 200 yards up Clubhouse Drive at Gate 2. The remnants of the pond can still be seen on the left headed up the hill. It washed out during Hurricane Agnes, was refilled when the road was realigned(Clubhouse Drive used to be an ESS curve switchback affair in the olden days) and subsequently was allowed to "disappear when the lake was completed. The youngsters above were some of the early denizens of the 'dale who used the pond for ice skating. We see Danny and Carol Tester, Bill and Beth Nowell, Jan and Kim Saxon, and Jackie Cunningham. We've heard from 5 of the 7- Those Saxon girls won't come out and play anymore!!!
