Garden Club events were also occasionally held at a member's home. Seen above are Olga Walters, Irene Weed, and Eleanor Slinkman. This was a tea at Mrs. Weed's home. Her home was located just above the Lake's spillway down a rather long driveway off Laurel Hill Road. Mrs. Slinkman was located just around the corner on Laurel Hill. Olga Walters warrants a lengthy tribute- among her notable achievements on behalf of Shannondale was a newspaper column dubbed  "Mountain Chatter" which was the forerunner of all the detailed and informative neighborhood entries now in the Spirit of the Jefferson Farmers' Advocate newspaper(what a mouthful!). She was so eloquent and witty that no one has come forth to replace her as a voice for our development in print- Any takers????
