We'll take a breather from Garden Club activities and travel back in time to the early 60's. The photo above shows the ballroom ready for a dinner affair in 1962. The bandstand above the dance floor was used in the early days but later(perhaps for acoustic reasons) moved to the far fight corner of the room if one is standing in the entry doors looking forward. The area below the Bandstand was a service bar and behind that an auxiliary kitchen connected to the main kitchen below by a dumbwaiter( No,No, not a stupid waiter, just an elevator food and tableware!!!)NOTE: the primary reason for moving the bandstand was the heat which became oppressive in the heights of the Ballroom.
